How to prepare for disaster Get ready for natural disasters

Home

The past year of devastating earthquakes in the Canterbury region has brought it home just how at the mercy of the forces of nature we humans really are. We think we are powerful until the ground shakes.

The good news is that there are many good resources and key coaching steps to research that will help any of us get prepared to cope and survive a major natual disaster. The Civil Defence Department has many great ideas about what should be in your emergency kit. One of the more important details to work out is that of communication. In the event of a major disaster, normal communication lines can be disrupted. Your family should prepare for this and put into place other ways of contact.

Other details are making sure you have good torches and a radio, all with fresh batteries. Don't forget to put aside a good first aid kit and keep it fresh and well stocked. What other Key Coaching steps can you think of?
