Return to Nursing / Competence Assessment Programme

Are you interested in returning to nursing but do not hold a current practicing certificate?

South Canterbury DHB offers nurses the opportunity to attend a six-week programme to facilitate a smooth transition back to the nursing profession.

The programme is accredited by the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) and consists of 15 theory days (0900-1500 hours) and fifteen preceptored clinical shifts (mornings and afternoons).

The programme is most suited to registered and enrolled nurses who hold New Zealand Registration, live in the South Island, and have been without a practicing certificate for five years or longer. It is designed to support and assist nurses in gaining NCNZ competencies to practice as a nurse.

A fee is charged for nurses attending the course who live outside the district. Price on application.

Only one programme will be held in 2010, commencing 24th May. The closing date for applications is 12th April, 2010.

Programme placements are limited due to the size of our DHB. To download an application form click on the link below. The form should then open in another window as a Word document. If you have any problems downloading the form Contact Us and it can be emailed to you.
