Bachelor of Nursing Programme
South Canterbury DHB collaborates with Otago Polytechnic School of Nursing and Aoraki Polytechnic to offer locally a three-year bachelor of nursing degree.
Aoraki Polytechnic offers courses to meet entry requirements for the Bachelor of Nursing programme. Those accepted to the programme undertake their studies at Timaru Hospital, with instruction by Otago Polytechnic School of Nursing lecturers. To provide a broader range of experience, students also complete a clinical practice placement of 3-7 weeks outside the region and compulsory clinical laboratories in Dunedin. All other clinical practice placements are completed at Timaru Hospital. Some financial assistance is available to qualifying students.
